GOV. EASLEY ANNOUNCES 40 JOBS IN ROCKINGHAM COUNTY
September 2007 One North Carolina Fund Grant
Helps TigerTek Expand in Eden
RALEIGH - Gov. Mike Easley today announced that TigerTek Industrial Services will expand in Rockingham County, creating 40 jobs and investing $1 million during the next three years. The announcement was made possible in part by a $12,000 One North Carolina Fund grant.
“TigerTek’s decision to expand in Eden reflects the value companies see in North Carolina’s talented workforce,” Easley said.
Based in Eden, TigerTek is a re-manufacturer of electric servo motors, pumps, gearboxes and components. The company also provides specialized machine shop and electro-mechanical repair services. While wages will vary by job function, the average weekly wage of the new jobs will be $811 plus benefits, which is more than the Rockingham County average weekly wage of $555 not including benefits.
“Rockingham County has provided us with a great base for our repair operations,” said Peter Mitchell, president of TigerTek Industrial Services. “Many of North Carolina’s manufacturing plants are now more highly automated with extremely complex production equipment. These plants require rapid repair response times. TigerTek has assembled a team of highly skilled maintenance technicians who can handle these complex repairs.”
“The General Asssembly has developed policies that help workers get the education and training they need for the jobs that new and expanding companies, such as TigerTek, are providing,” said state Rep. Nelson Cole (D-Rockingham). “I will continue to work for policies that make more opportunities available to people in our community.”
Other partners who helped make this announcement possible include the N.C. Department of Commerce, Rockingham County and the Rockingham County Economic Development Partnership.
The One North Carolina Fund assists the state in industry recruitment and expansion by providing financial assistance through local governments to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. One North Carolina Fund grants require and are contingent upon a local match. Through the use of this Fund, more than 28,000 jobs and $4 billion in investment have been created since 2001.

Tiger Woods and TigerTek have one small common link, we are presently repairing several servo motors used by a major manufacturer of golf balls. These servo motors operate in an extremely moist environment. There is a lot of cooling fluid in that production area. This had caused these servo motors to fail prematurely when the moisture penetrated the motor through the shaft opening in the front endbell.
TigerTek solved this problem by repairing the servo, PLUS machining the endbell and inserting an engineered seal to keep the motor waterproof.
We repaired 2 of these motors about 18 months ago to prove that this solution would work. They have now sent us several more.
TigerTek’s unique ability to provide rewinding, machining and electronic services, combined with our years of experience, test equipment and expert servo technicians is the winning combination for servo motor reliability.
